The Vietnamese government has decided to suspend 15-day visa exemption for French citizens from March 9th, 2020.
After a series of new nCovid-19 infections in France in particular and Europe in general, the Vietnamese government held an emergency meeting and decided to cancel the unilateral visa exemption policy for French citizens and seven European countries, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Thus, from today, French citizens and citizens from the countries listed above must apply for a visa to enter Vietnam (before these countries could come to Vietnam without a visa if they stay in Vietnam less than 15 days).
This decision takes effect from March 9th, 2020 and is strictly enforced at all Vietnam entry ports, including landports, seaports and airports. All French citizens who want to enter Vietnam must have a visa (electronic visa or on arrival visa are both accepted), and must declare health when entering Vietnam. Cases departing from big-effected nCovid areas such as Italy, South Korea and Iran must be isolated and monitored within 14 days. Cases departing from mainland China are not allowed to enter Vietnam.
For cases not departing from the above countries, the French can enter Vietnam normally. While traveling in Vietnam, French citizens must closely monitor their health, wash their hands frequently and use masks in crowded places.
