Can Singapore Passport Holders Come To Vietnam Without Visa During Epidemic Period? – Updated 12/3/2020

Due to the Coronavirus epidemic, Vietnam’s visa policy has changed a lot in recent days. Some countries are banned from entry, some countries are banned from obtaining visas, some countries have suspended visa exemption programs. So, what about citizens holding a Singapore passport? Can Singaporeans enter Vietnam without a visa during this period? Or if Singaporeans need a visa, how to get it?

As we all know, Singaporeans can enter Vietnam and do not need to apply for a visa if the stay is less than 30 days. However, this visa exemption policy is very risky in the period when countries are tightening immigration regulations, because Vietnam can cancel the visa exemption policy for Singaporean citizens at any time.

According to the latest update today, March 12, 2020, Vietnam has just issued a new regulation on visa exemption policy. Accordingly, 8 countries from UK, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland will not be able to enter Vietnam without a visa as before. At the same time, these countries cannot apply for visas to Vietnam in the context of widespread disease in Europe currently. This sudden change makes it impossible for citizens from the eight countries mentioned above to have any solution to enter Vietnam.

For Singapore citizens who are preparing to come to Vietnam, it is essential to apply for a visa. Because if the visa policy suddenly changes, once you have a visa in hand, you can still enter Vietnam normally. Compared to paying 6 USD for an online visa, the cost when you cannot enter (air tickets, hotels, …) is much higher.
