1/ Where to submit visa extension in Vietnam?

At this moment, you have two ways to process your Vietnam visa extension: Submitting directly at immigration offices and submitting through travel agencies in Vietnam.

The Vietnam immigration offices are available in all 63 provinces of Vietnam, included: An Giang, Ba Ria–Vung Tau, Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Bac Lieu, Bac Ninh, Ben Tre, Binh Dinh, Binh Duong. However, it’s recommended that you should come to 3 main immigration offices in Ha Noi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh city to submit the visa extension application. The other immigration office only handle some specific cases, not cover all options of visa extension.

– Afternoon: 13h30 – 16h00 (Monday to Friday)

*** Please note that the Immigration Office closes on Saturday afternoon, Sunday & Public holidays.

2/ Required documents to submit visa extension in Vietnam

a/ When you come to immigration office for visa extension, please well prepare the documents in advance.

For tourist visa extension, required documents are:

  • Original passport with validation more than 6 months
  • Blank page for visa extension stamp
  • Current Vietnam visa/exemption certificate/temporary resident card
  • NA5 form for Vietnam visa extension application with sponsor in Vietnam
  • Resident certificate by local police

For business visa extension, these below are required additionally:

  • Copy of business license of the company
  • Copy of labor contract

b/ If you process visa extension through travel agency, the only document you must submit is your original passport + current visa.

 

3/ Processing time for a Vietnam visa extension application

Applying visa extension directly at the Vietnam immigration department lasts 5 – 10 working days while applying through local travel agency takes 2 – 5 working days. It is counted from Mon to Fri only, and not included Vietnam holidays.
