Vietnam officially resumed visa exemption program for German and other nationalities to welcome foreign tourists back after two years of suspension.
Vietnam visa exemption for German has been resumed from March 15, 2022
Vietnam exemption policy was issued for 24 countries to attract more tourists to come to Vietnam. This policy helped the foreigners to ignore a lot of complicated visa application procedure when preparing the trip to Vietnam. However, this visa exemption was suspended in 2022 due to Covid-19. In order to control pandemic, Vietnam government issued a lot of travel restrictions and cancelled a lot of visa policies, including visa exemption policy. At that time, all people have to apply visa and entry permit to enter Vietnam.
After 2 years of suspension, Vietnam government decided to resume visa exemption policy for all 24 countries like before 2020. Vietnam visa exemption policy for German was also resumed.

Although the visa exemption policy is resume, the duration of exemption for each country can be different. Each country will have different visa exemption policy depending on relationship and immigration policies with Vietnam.
German passport holders can enter Vietnam for free visa if the trip is less than 15 days. For the trip longer than 15 days, German passport holders have to apply visa.
Vietnam visa exemption policy for German is used for tourism purpose only. In case coming to Vietnam for business purpose or other purpose, German have to apply visa to get entry approval.
Vietnam is offering 30-day visa exemption for all nationalities if travelling to Phu Quoc island. This is a beautiful island in the South of Vietnam with nice beaches and beautiful sunset. German citizens can also consider for a trip to Phu Quoc to get a long visa exemption.
